Slow But Steady

We just wanted to take a few minutes and update you on Lincoln's progress. In short, we could describe his progress as slow but good. He now weighs 3 lbs 9 oz (started out as 2 lbs 14 oz); he is steadily gaining about an ounce a day.

We are starting to get used to all of the alarms and are better at reading all the monitors. We know by sound which alarms to ignore (for example when a medication is finished) and when we should watch more closely. As we sit in the ICN, alarms are constantly sounding from the different preemies around the room. It almost feels normal to hear constant dinging... and it feels strange when the room has been quiet for a while.

We are also learning his patterns, for example if his heart rate is increasing there is a good chance he is too hot. And we have discovered that part of the reason Linc's oxygen levels having been dropping is that he often sleeps with his mouth open. Tonight one of the nurses called him an air leak. At least it is an easy fix and we just have to help him close his mouth :-).

We are thankful Lincoln is dong well... that is all we want. Please continue to pray that his body will grow stronger and stronger each day. And pray we will get the rest we need... being at the hospital daily can be a little tiring. Thanks again for your prayers - we definitely feel them!

Love, Jeremy, April, & Lincoln
